This CPD will be split into three sessions (subject to change):

Session 1: NEA - planning, guidance and marking

This session will focus on creating efficiency and quality in the planning and support of the NEA. It will focus on developing effective systems to ensure students can complete their NEA by February. It will consider how we can create resources to effectively address students’ understanding of how to achieve high AO1, AO2 and AO3 marks. It will also address the standardisation and marking process.

Session 2: Planning - Long term, medium term and short term.

This session focuses on the importance of planning to create a structured, purposeful curriculum that has explicit links between topics and skills to ensure the layering of knowledge, understanding and skills over time. Also the building of an effective quality assurance process to ensure a cycle of sustained improvement.

Session 3: Assessment, marking and feedback

This session focuses on the development of an effective assessment model. It will consider the purpose of assessment, what effective assessment can look like and how to ensure consistency of marking across departments. It will also consider how to conduct feedback to ensure that it responds to student needs and drives improvement.

All sessions will take place 12.30pm - 3.30pm at the Outwood Institute of Education on the following dates:

  • Session 1 - Wednesday 15th November 2023

  • Session 2 - Tuesday 20th February 2024

  • Session 3 - Wednesday 24th April 2024
